With Lilypond 1.0.9, I've been trying the Staff_margin_engraver. I had to
change a couple of lines of the source before it worked for me. Am I
doing something wrong, or was staff-margin-engraver.cc not quite ready for
use?
The effect I saw was that the Staff.instrument or Staff.instr property was
engraved directly underneath the bar numbering, but at the vertical
position I would expect: in the middle of the staff.
It appears to me that what is intended is for the script_p_->dir_ to be
LEFT, and for this engraver to be processed before the brace or bracket of
the StaffGroup or GrandStaff.
I changed the script_p_ initialization so dir_ = LEFT and
break_priority_i_ = -5. That made it print correctly, at least with the
input file I was using.
