I hope you mean "compressed with gzip", because Gsview/Ghostscript supports
.gz-files without explicit uncompressing.
Most ps-files on http://www.gmd.de/Misc/Music/scores/ are compressed with
gzip (.ps.gz) and since gsview/ghostscript supports these files I'm
considerung a more direct access to the compressed files. Actually most
links point at the name of uncompressed file which means that our ftp-
server will uncompress them on the fly before transmission.
