I am setting Scarlatti's 'grace notes' and other ornamentation by
giving them real durations and smaller type size
e.g.
n = {\property Voice.fontsize = "0"}
sm = {\property Voice.fontsize = "-1"}
...
\sm e''16 \n d''8.
or, for a 'true' grace note:
\sm e''16 \n \times 3/4 {d''4}

Diamond note heads are coming - I need two shapes to show hand
assignments for Scarlatti, and recommended diamond for the second
shape, both for this reason and because it's usual for medieval
scores.
Excess rests in polyphony may be omitted by using s (space) instead
of r (rest) - same syntax.
Several beam angle parameters can be set at the staff or output level
- I believe including 'set beams horizontal' although I haven't tried
it. However, there are many places in Scarlatti where I'd appreciate
being able to force individual stem lengths (in interline units) to
avoid collisions between beams and note heads in close polyphony.
(After two note head shapes are working, though!)
