Hi. This is the mailing list maintainer for the GNu Music project
mailing lists. I was waiting for someone to comment on this.
There are actually two answers to your question: yes and no. Let
me explain.
1) Yes - The GNU Music mailing lists *are* filtered to prevent UBE on the
lists but the filter didn't catch this one so
2) No - it is probably not possible to prevent every piece of UBE from
reaching an unmoderated list.
So we can do three things:
1) beef up the filter so that we don't ever see the same sort of UBE
twice (I am working on this with the maintainer of the filter which is
actually used by many GNU mailing lists),
2) restrict the ability to post to the lists to addresses that are on
the subscription list (which only increases the amount of work needed
to send UBE a bit), and
3) change the list to a moderated list with a human moderator.
#2 and #3 are fairly drastic measures but are available options if the
project leaders (Hanwen and Jan N.) feel that we need to exercise them.
