As you may have noticed, not much has happened to the draft Mutopia
website lately. Don't worry though - I am still working on it, and this
is how the situation currently lies:

o Web space - the Mutopia website itself will only be a couple of
hundred kB max so hosting this on my company's webspace (if it ever
comes!) is not a problem. The archive itself, however, is predicted to
go very quickly to several dozen megabytes which we can't spare as the
webspace is hired. My current plan is to use free Xoom space for the
archive and at least one person has offered to mirror this on FTP which
will be a reasonable solution. If anyone does want to donate web space
(that I can access), however, then it would be much appreciated.

o Searching / sorting - this is being developed on my local computer
but I don't yet have access to an online cgi-bin running with Perl 5.
This should be rectified very soon.

o General look of the site - this is pretty much finished as people
round here don't seem to like lots of flashy graphics ;-) There are
obviously several more pages for me to write - namely the legal one. We
need to discuss this on the list first, though, ATM I'm still reading
up about GPL, Copyleft, Public Domain, etc. and will get back to you.

o Categories - I'm still researching these.

o My current major hurdle is getting the .dvi files outputted by
Lilypond into .ps files with the fonts stored in vector format. Since
Lilypond 1.1.49 I have managed to compile all the different types of
fonts (afm, pfa, tfm (virtual + real), vf and vpl) but I still cannot
get dvips to include the pfa fonts in the ps file rather than bitmapped
ones. This is a final plea for anyone who's managed to do this to get
in touch - otherwise I'll ask for help on usenet (comp.text.tex).

It's progressing - slowly 8-)
