still writing about the score that should have been done at the end of
the summer... :)

han-wen, you were going to look into this problem back in august, but
i don't see anything in the most recent docs to suggest that it's been
taken care of. is it now possible to put fingerings beside notes
instead of on top of or beneath them? you can see from the score at
the url below that only being able to put them above or below the
staff won't do.

i'm unbelievably overdue getting this score to the composer. at this
point, i just need an answer to whether i'll be able to do it with
lilypond (i'd greatly love to) or whether i should just give it up and
let him find someone else to typeset it.

thanks,
jeff

Subject: need help with fingerings
Date: Fri, 25 Jun 1999 18:07:43 -0400 (EDT)

i'm working on closing again:

http://www4.smart.net/~jcovey/tmp/smith/

all the notes are in, and i'm working on the fingerings. i need to
know how to put fingerings on the sides of notes, instead of on top or
bottom, eg.:

             | |
          4 o| o| 4
             | |
          3 o| or o| 3
             | |
             | |
          1 o| o| 1

right now i'm just stacking fingerings on top of the chord, as in the
chord at the end of the third line, which becomes unmanageable very
quickly.

also, those fingerings should be:

                4
                1
                0

so i attached them to the chord as ^0^1^4, but they stack up instead
as

                4
                0
                1

what's happening there?

thanks,
jeff
