I think that's a great idea.  The DFSG are probably a good starting point,
but we need to say some things specific to music.  Here's a few changes
we'd probably have to make:

> 1. Free Redistribution
   - must apply to performances, recordings and broadcasts.

> 2. Source Code
   - must be available for modified versions and derived works which are
     distributed, unless the modifications weren't made using a computer.

> 3. Derived Works

> 4. Integrity of Author's Source Code
 [compromise, to allow licenses which require source code modifications to
  be distributed in "patch form" only.  The compromise was made since some
  software was already licensed like this; we don't have that problem]

> 5. No Discrimination Against Persons or Groups
> 6. No Discrimination Against Fields of Endeavor
> 7. Distribution of License

> 8. License must not be specific to Debian
   - obviously, substitute "Mutopia".

> 9. License must not contaminate other software
   - cannot place restrictions on the licensing of other works distributed
     in the same book / disk / CD.


Maybe there's more that needs altering / adding.  Suggestions?
