It's not quite like the Triple Concerto. The solo Cello separates from the
rest of the cellos for the first 20 bars, before the piano starts, and
the last ~30 bars, with piano and orchestra accompanying (which makes
a total of about half of the movement). In my score, the solo cello is
not printed together with the piano (as in the Triple Concerto, where the
soloists are grouped together), but between violas and celli.
I think I like your second possibility best. But it will be some time
before I enter that piece anyway :-)
