Hi,

Often on this list, we see the recommendation to use the
latest development version of Lilypond instead of the,
so-called, "stable" 1.2.17. I agree that the 1.3.x series
includes many improvements, still the latest patch level
is not always the best one to recommend if you want to
do some serious typesetting. At the moment, I keep
switching back to 1.3.54 every now and then since it
has some features that were broken in later versions.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a list of "broken features",
things that used to work but don't work at the moment.
I'm not mainly talking about small bugs, but features
that are broken because of some restructuring of the
implementation and will be solved in due time.

>From the top of my head, I could give the following
small list of broken features that I know of:

- HaraKiri staffs in scores (i.e. instruments that have
rests for a whole line are not typeset).
- \specialkey, i.e. key signatures with different
  accidentals in different octaves.
- Some properties don't work, e.g. markVisibilityFunction

If the list also included a column specifying when the
feature was broken, it would be really useful when you
want to find a version that works for your score.

The announcements of the new patch levels sometimes
include a comment that this or that feature is broken,
but since the information doesn't make it into the change
log, it's difficult to keep track.
