No, I'm not. I'm proposing trying to set some community standards
for appropriate and considerate behavior as far as converting files

I agree. This is FreeNote's policy already.

Nope, that's news to me! Where can I find it?
A couple of people wrote to point out that my list of open-source
sites was incomplete. If you can find one that I haven't listed in
http://dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Resources/Downloadable_Music_Sheets/,
please let me know. I left out Werner Icking's wonderful GMD site
in my post, for instance, because not all the music on it is
available in source format.
