Dear all,

What I'd like to be able to do is put an accidental (possibly in
brackets) above a part to indicate that there is some doubt left in
the editor's mind about whether or not the accidental should be
present (so, something like

a4^"(\\textsharp)"

). There are some problems with the above; firstly, the brackets don't
seem to kern properly with the sharp, so it looks a little ugly; but,
disregarding this for the moment, even if I remove the brackets it
seems as though the sharp doesn't scale with the rest of the piece
(\including, say, paper11.ly shrinks everything but the sharp sign).

In a sense, this kind of accidental is like a mark (up-bow, staccato,
etc), I think, at least typographically; would it make sense to add
new marks like that? How would one go about it?

The context of this is preparing performing editions of vocal music; I
had another problem that I've worked around; the original format of
the piece was

|: some music :|: some more :| yet more

   words1 words3 words5
   words2 words4

but, with my (possibly nave) first try using \repeat and
\alternative, I was getting

|: some music :|: some more :| yet more

   words1
   words2
               words3
                                                         words4
                            words5

I'm sure I was doing something wrong, but I couldn't figure out what
it was from the examples supplied. I'm not using \addlyrics, if that
makes any difference.

I'm generally very happy with the quality of output, though I'd love
to see at least an option for the __ lyric to end at the end of the
last note rather than the beginning of the next note, if you see what
I mean; maybe it's time I learnt C++ ...

Cheers,

Christophe
