How about adding a TeX-function setting to an appropriate interface?
If you for instance would like a frame around all the words in your
lyrics (stuupid example), you would do
\property Lyrics.texFunction = "framebox"
Perhaps one could use some apply-stuff to do the same thing, but I still
think that this function would come handy.
I don't know which interface to use... Why doesn't scripts use the
text-interface?
2nd question: Why is it that you have such a hard time determining the
correct length of a piece of TeX? Isn't it possible to ask tex the
length of some text?
