I have no statistics, but know of at least one active person who has quit the
project due to governance problems in the last few years. I think (of course
I have no proofs for this) that GNU would be healthier with a more democratic
structure.

And the true test for the survival of all paternalistic structures comes
when the father figure leaves it. So past performance is not a guarantee for
future performance.
