Sometimes by default, the X headers and are not in the standard gcc
search path.  You probably need to do something like this:

  ./configure --with-motif=/usr/X11R6/lib

Alternately, on a Debian system, just installing the lesstif package
isn't enough, you also need the lesstif-dev package.  Could that be
the case with RedHat as well?
