s/freeze/branch/, and I'd agree.  I think CVS is probably the solution
here.  Anyone that's relying on the current CVS snapshot for their
finances knows how to get a CVS checkout, and we can provide
instructions on how to checkout OLD_MOTIFIFIED_BRANCH.

I do *not* think we should worry about making the current stuff any
more stable than it is for any kind of real "release", lets just
branch it now, and we can fix any egregious bugs on the motif branch
(like the current startup problem) as needed, but then continue
forward with a new Gnome-only branch.

I think this has the potential to help a lot.
