Ahh, sorry.  Hypermail is the only package I have personal experience
with.  My guess is it could do it in real time even on a slow 486.

Updated daily from cron is okay too.

Good news!

I think a current, searchable devel list is an important ingredient to
a successful project.  If you like, I can take care of updating
mail-archive.com with the past 6 months of activity (just send me the
mail archive).  Since www.gnucash.org is a slow server, maybe it makes
sense to rely on them for the mail archive entirely?

Hmm...the solutions I've seen so far just change the mail folder the
e-mail gets archived to each month and then generate each month
separately.
