Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone a little status report on the Gnucash.
Specifically the Gnome version.
I have done lots of polishing on the Gnome version lately. I added
pretty little icons to the toolbar. I also revamped the toolbar to be
more understandable. For instance on the Motif side the "Open" toolbar
button means to open a register window for the selected account. I
found this to be confusing. Most people would think of "Open" as
meaning open a file. So I changed this on the Gnome side... "Open"
means open a file, and "View" means view the register. Here is a list
of the old toolbar names vs. the new ones:
Open -> View
New -> Add
I then added Save, Import, and Exit to the toolbar. I think this new
wording should be easier to work with.
The main window has been changed from a tree widget to a ctree widget so
that now it is identical to the Motif version. This makes things look
much nicer. I have also done lots of changes to make the refreshing of
this new widget a lot smoother when adding/deleting accounts.
A statusbar was added to the bottom of the main window. This is
providing Asset, and Profit information right now. But could easily be
setup to provide any information we want.
A completely new setup dialog was added about a month ago. It still
needs to have the Account Code field added. Anyone willing?
You are now able to edit account information in the Gnome version.
I ported Linas' HelpWindow code over to the Gnome side so we now have an
integrated help system for the Gnome version. Next I will probably work
on getting the reports to work since they are not much different than
the help system anyway.
Oh, and I have been going thru the register code with a fine tooth comb
trying to learn exactly how it works so that I can stomp the bugs out of
the register.
That is all I can think of right now. So I hope this interests people.
The Gnome version is gaining ground on the Motif version.... watch out!
=)
