I'm a beta tester for a system called BitKeeper that is designed
to solve all of these problems. The idea is that BitKeeper will
be used for source code control of the linux kernel, for which
CVS is a woefully inadequate tool.

Really, for a highly parallel Unix based development effort like
GnuCash, there are no technical arguments in favor of CVS over
BitKeeper.

The impediment for some people will be the license -- it isn't
"Open Source." It is "Almost Open Source"(tm). It is
essentially open source except that you can't break the
regression test with your modifications. Licensing issues for it
are summarized at http://www.bitkeeper.com/bk12.html.

Anyway, once BitKeeper matures, I'll come back arguing that we
should use it.
