I have sent two patches for internationalization with gettext on list
gnucash-patches. They includes translations for both german and
french.
I'm not at home next week if there are any questions or remarks on
these patches. But I will have time in september to improve them or
fix bugs.
With german strings and motif, the main window is very large but it is
also true when statically compiling german messages from messages_de.h.
