Greetings,

In one of my accounts in GnuCash, the running balances displayed in the
register are completely divorced from the values of the splits
displayed. The interline differences do not correspond to the split
amounts, and occasionally don't match -any- transaction I've enterred.

Example: The following register excerpt is from several successive
transactions in that register, displayed in the order shown:

Date Payment Deposit Balance
=======================================
11/13/1999 $ 11.20 $294.06
11/13/1999 $ 6.24 $305.26
11/14/1999 $103.42 $147.97
11/14/1999 $ 13.34 $258.93
11/14/1999 $ 7.54 $251.39
11/14/1999 $ 6.68 $272.27
11/15/1999 $ 22.35 $170.32

The same improbable transactions occur in both Motif(Lesstif) and Gnome
compilations, and in both the 1.2.5 and CVS versions.

I -believe- that the balances were initially miscomputed because I did
not enter the transactions in date order, but rather enterred them
randomly. Since my reading of the gnucash source-code implies that
running balances are stored in the .xac file, the running balances have
not been corrected. I've no reason to believe that the original bug
that caused this problem still exists, but now that my data is
corrupted, I don't know how to uncorrupt it.

How can I get gnucash to recompute the running balances in all my
accounts?
