Regarding the patch:

Once I realized I was not using uudecode correctly I tried again. If I try
to uudecode it "as is" it complains of "no begin line". The patch file has
spaces between the left margin and the uuencoded ASCII material. If I
remove the spaces before the "begin gnucash.diff.gz" line this complaint
goes away but is replaced by "no end line". Removing the spaces before
"end" doesn't help. What now?
