guile has some built in networking code (mentioned in guile-ref).
What do we need?  If it's not too complex, I might be able to hack
something up.

Actually looking at Quote.pl, it looks like it relies on substantial
fanciness in LWP.  Is that a correct assesment?  I could just do raw
socket work, but I'm not sure how hard it would be to make that solid
enough to be a suitable replacement.

I'll see if I can get a second to poke around in the guile/scheme
repositories unless someone else beats me to it.  There may already be
something relevant available.
