Yes, that's exactly what an expense/income report should do.
I'll attempt this when I finish the other things I'm up to (cleaning
up documentation and fixing a couple of other bugs).

Agreed, but I'd wonder whether for something like this it might be
better to just export reports to Gnumeric (which is on the wishlist
already) and customize from there.
