XIM == X Input Method.  When text fields use this in asian language
countries, a single-line composition window appears at the bottom of the
screen.  User can then compose complex e.g. katakana characters out of
simpler kanji/ascii characters.  

Clearly whatever gtk widget we're using for 'account name' is wired in
by default into xim, but whatever text widget were' using in the
register is not.  I don't know why or how to wire it in, or why its not
already.

the thing to do is to search the gtk documentation for xim, and see why
some of our widgets have it and others don't
