I'd be happy to do that, but is there actually a need? As long as we
know it's an accurate price, the source probably doesn't matter, but I
suppose it wouldn't hurt to keep the info around.

Right, though we'd also keep all the historical data too.

Well, that's actually how it'll happen under the covers. It's just
that you'll be able to click a button in gnucash to update if you
like, and we won't need swig anymore (though we'll still support it as
an optional compilation target).
We'll probably also support:
gnucash --execute gnc:update-quotes
for those who want to do things in batch.
Better yet, if I store the quotes in a separate table in the sleepycat
DB, or in whatever we decide to use, and we have proper locking, then
we can even update the prices without stepping on the toes of the
running app...
