Thanks, Paul. I'll give it a shot tonight. I grew frustrated and decided
to take a break. As have others with this issue.
Suggestion: Could we assemble another source package that build and
installs the needed utilities/components to make a clean build? I know this
would be a lot of work, but at least we would be remove alot of system
dependencies that make this such a hassle. BTW, I can't wait to get this
thing going. A good replacement for Quicken/Money was the biggest thing I
needed to make that move to Linux. Thanks guys. :)

I was encountering the same problem on 1.3.98 and 1.3.99. I removed some
of the files installed by the source tar g-wrap_0.9.1.orig.tar.gz and
installed the 3 following debs:
g-wrap_0.9.1-1_i386.deb
libgwrapguile-dev_0.9.1-1_i386.deb
libgwrapguile0_0.9.1-1_i386.deb
which are available at
ftp://ftp.gnucash.org/pub/g-wrap/debs/ or
http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/~rgmerk/software/index.html
gnucash 1.4.0 now compiles cleanly.
I believe I was missing files, including
/usr/share/guile/site/g-wrap.scm. Perhaps you are having a similar
problem and need to install additional files on you mandrake system.
Hope this helps,
John Paul
