I often use this feature in Quicken to calculate the allocation of expenses
between accounts. For example, when I get a bill for "pest control" at my
rental properties, I need to charge a portion of it to each individual
property. So I take the total bill and divide by the number of properties to
calculate how much to assign to the first property. It is much easier than
having to go "off line" to perform the calculation.
