There's a price scatter plot in CVS since this week. However, the features
of Guppi's scatter plot that we have available through guppitank are
fairly limited. In particular there are two problems:
1. we have only one data set, no two colors or two different markers
2. we can't specify any x-axis tick labels, i.e. no "Jan 2001, Feb 2001,
..." strings or anything like that. That's bad, and the x-axis will only
show numbers.
However, I'm still interested in the output. I've included a screenshot
that shows the DEM-price which I paid for buying USD, from July 2000
("month 0" on the x-axis) over Jan 2001 ("month 7" on x-axis) up to end of
April (right before "month 10" on x-axis). The visible tendency is what
the USD-EUR-DEM exchange rate actually did -- USD went up last fall, went
down around new year, went up again this spring.
Guppi does not offer any sorts of line plots at the moment. Those guys do
work on that. But this will well take another 4...6 months, and we have to
wait yet more to give gnucash users time to upgrade their Guppi. That
means we have to live with libguppitank's limitiations for now, and for
the next 3...4 months as well.
That said, I would indeed like to have some sort of price scatter plot in
1.6, even though it looks not too nice. It may well be hidden deep in some
menu, or there may even be a preference option "show advanced reports in
menu". But my paragraph above about the DEM-USD development couldn't have
been written without some plot like this.
Opinions? Suggestions? Flames?
Christian
