FYI, your latest code checking breaks the build for me:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../../.. -I.. -I../.. -I../../../src/backend
-I../../../src/engine -DLOCALE_DIR=\"/opt/gnucash-g2/share/locale\"
-I../../../src/gnc-module -I/usr/include/libxml2 -pthread
-I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -g -O2 -g -Wall -Wunused
-Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Werror
-Wdeclaration-after-statement -MT qsf-backend.lo -MD -MP -MF
.deps/qsf-backend.Tpo -c qsf-backend.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/qsf-backend.o
qsf-backend.c: In function `qsf_provider_init':
qsf-backend.c:1143: warning: ISO C90 forbids mixed declarations and code
make[6]: *** [qsf-backend.lo] Error 1
make[6]: Leaving directory
`/home/warlord/src/gnucash/gnucash-g2/build/src/backend/qsf'
Please be more careful to make sure your variable declarations are at
the top of
blocks. I'll go commit a fix for this in a minute.

??? Pesky Kate - I usually sort out the Changelog in vi but that messed up
with incrementing tabs, now Kate has faffed around with converting spaces to
tabs all over the place. v.v.v. sorry about this - the first thing I knew
about it was when the diff came back on this list. All seemed fine at this
end.
I didn't change those lines myself, honest.
