Hi Eneko, thanks for asking and offering the help with translations. However, there exist some very big translations already for the 1-8-branch. That needs to be copied to the gnome2-branch first -- but the gnome2-branch is scheduled to be merged back into CVS-HEAD or even upgraded to Subversion, and those steps should be waited upon before things like translation merging is done.
In short: I'd suggest that you wait until we release the first 1.9.0 alpha release, which will be the first of several testing and bugfixing releases before the real 2.0. If you really want to start translation work before that, then please please take the 1-8-branch's po file (=translation) of your language as a starting point, and copy that into your gnome2 branch. If you submit that some time later, please remember to say that you already merged the existing 1.8 translation into that file. But I'd suggest waiting for 1.9.0. Thanks anyway.
