Can this workaround now be removed?

The change is over 2 years old:
http://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-patches/2003-January/011451.html

FC3 appears to have automake1.9 and the problem would appear to be long fixed.

As we get closer to a G2 release, make distcheck will presumably become
important and this workaround currently halts make distcheck, so it's
counter-productive. Yes?

Naturally, make distcheck doesn't yet complete (make check problems) but it is
useful to build the dist tarball in a clean environment even if only for the
first few stages. When make distcheck fails, it's simply a case of running
make dist to clean up the temporary directories.

With this removed, I've got make distcheck to proceed through make and into
make check before the expected failure in src/bin/test
<unnamed port>: In procedure scm-error in expression (scm-error (quote
misc-error) #f ...):
<unnamed port>: no code for module (g-wrapped gw-core-utils)
FAIL: test-version
