Please CC gnucash-devel on all replies....

You don't necessarily need g-wrap 1.9; you can use 1.3.4... The only
issue is that the code generated by 1.3.4 wont compile cleanly with gcc4.

The problem below is that you can't find the g-wrap runtime during
your compile. I don't know why configure would work unless you
have both the 1.3.4 and the 1.9 runtime installed together... That's
not supported by g-wrap.

I followed the instructions covered in the Translation section as suggested
by Johannes, I can now complete the autogen and configure steps but have the
following problem with make:

Somewhere I found a reference to the fact that the 1.9 g-wrap stream is a
pre-req for Gnucash2, it isn't in the gentoo packages list so I just pulled
down the tar from the web and installed it in /usr/share/guile/g-wrap (after
un-emerging the 1.3.4 version I had). Still doesn't seem to have solved the
problem

In case you are wondering why my build is under /root, I'm running a colinux
instance on my laptop, the home desktops all have ubuntu and couldn't get
all the "dev" pre-reqs to even complete the autogen step.

I'm going to keep rooting around (pun intended I suppose), but any pointers
are appreciated...

The README.svn is probably slightly out of date. Did you run
./autogen.sh first? Then did you run ./configure ... (with all
the arguments you need)?
