This was definitely something I hadn't tried before and it sounds
right but something else must be wrong since I am still getting the

The first error implies that you configured against one version of
g-wrap but you're building against the other. The second one implies
that you're missing the glib wrappers.
Unfortunately I don't know what to tell you other than "clean the tree as
best you can and start over"
