I have been using gnucash for 2 years now - it is a great program I have tested a copy of clint redwoods uk vat report against my accounts - It did not take too long to get it working once I found a 'how to' and worked out that using Ubuntu I had to create my own config.user file with the run command for the .scm
It works very well - and brought up the correct figures. I had a little trouble as I had renamed my Vat:Input to Vat:Input-purchases and also included a separate box for EC vat (this was for my own convenience )- so I initially had 0.00 showing in Box 4 although it was doing the calc for box 5 correctly Once I worked out what the problem was I renamed the accounts and merged them then the figures worked fine. Many thanks to Clint for this - it will save me a lot of time and effort - I do hope the report is included in the next Gnucash release as it is very useful (a must have really) for UK business users who want an Open Source accounts package and adding it in yourself may be a bit daunting for some people. My only other wish for Gnucash now is an easy way to export to a Calc spreadsheet - it is possible but a bit time consuming at the minute - apart from that I think it is an excellent program and very intuitive to use.
