Graham-- Are you sure about that? My copy (from Gnucash-Intel-2.4.8.dmg) doesn't invoke X11 , and the wiki page at http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/MacOSX/Quartz reinforces that idea. When did you last try the dmg?
