This is likely your issue: gnucash as of 2.5.6 comes with a number of gsettings
schemas. If
you don't install them, GnuCash can't find them and will crash on the first
attempt to access
gsettings.

GnuCash moved to gsettings with 2.5.6. You shouldn't be installing gconf
schemas, but
gsettings schemas.
I'm curious why you don't let make and make install do this for you
automatically. Is that
something Arch specific ?
