The question is: where is the "common currency" defined? Is that the default currency when a "new file" is created? In my case that would have been EUR. The subaccount was then in USD. > > In this particular case your transaction touches accounts with GUIDs > 3393b4c322cb03f741b897315442915b and 9d8b567ddf610fc2ca8d85e744640062. > What accounts are these two? I started with completely new accounts hierarchy using the wizard. The currency I set to EUR. Then I created a new account as a subaccount to Assets:CurrentsAssets as USDaccount. Its currency was set to USD. Then I enter a first transaction in USDaccount and in transfer specify Income:salary This account is in EU (ofcourse) now, the amount entered does not show in USDaccount but does in income:salary So, it must be related to the conversion issue. Next I created a top hierarchy account USDconversion in USD as currency. Using the price editor I did get a quote for commodity USD into EUR as 1.0085 (looks fine). Just to make sure I also created EURconversion in EUR which gives a 1 as a quote (to be expected). Now, the main gnucash accounts window shows 1111EUR for Income and for the USDaccount $0.00 (first total) and EUR0.00 for the second total. hope that helps a little. greetings Eildert > > Thanks, > > -derek > > Eildert Groeneveld <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > > The accound for this transaction is in USD, however, the higher account > > is in EUR: > > > > <gnc:transaction version="2.0.0"> > > <trn:id type="guid">72c5ac2e4c42a0695f8ba9bdf904d83d</trn:id> > > <trn:currency> > > <cmdty:space>ISO4217</cmdty:space> > > --------------------------------------------------------------- > > <cmdty:id>EUR</cmdty:id> ========================== with USD its > > ok!!! --------------------------------------------------------------- > > </trn:currency> > > <trn:date-posted> > > <ts:date>2002-07-20 00:00:00 +0200</ts:date> > > </trn:date-posted> > > <trn:date-entered> > > <ts:date>2002-07-20 17:35:05 +0200</ts:date> > > <ts:ns>7185000</ts:ns> > > </trn:date-entered> > > <trn:description>pabry</trn:description> > > <trn:splits> > > <trn:split> > > <split:id type="guid">6a98b731f20a7643f9704628578bc47f</split:id> > > <split:memo>mabry</split:memo> > > <split:reconciled-state>n</split:reconciled-state> > > <split:value>275000/100</split:value> > > <split:quantity>0/100</split:quantity> > > <split:account > > type="guid">3393b4c322cb03f741b897315442915b</split:account> > > </trn:split> > > <trn:split> > > <split:id type="guid">76475808b8fa5ff8a4b1e6c16e95f041</split:id> > > <split:reconciled-state>n</split:reconciled-state> > > <split:value>-275000/100</split:value> > > <split:quantity>-275000/100</split:quantity> > > <split:account > > type="guid">9d8b567ddf610fc2ca8d85e744640062</split:account> > > </trn:split> > > </trn:splits> > > </gnc:transaction> > > > > On Monday 22 July 2002 13:53, Eildert Groeneveld wrote: > > > Dear all, > > > the balance problem has been with me for some time but I have not been > > > able to resolve the problem yet. > > > It seems that there are occasions when entering a deposit or making a > > > withdrawal that the balance does not change at all.
