Hi all,

Today the Windows XP PC used for accounting at my work has crashed.
They use a propietary local accounting package (SP Editores' ContaPlus,
I think it is quite broadly used also in Latin America), which is very
tricky with installations, activation codes, and all those things that
make the live of a legal user of such packages an awful pain. Due to
this, I've needed about 5 hours to fix that PC, so I have done some
test/foolprobing with the accountant and a laptop with GnuCash :)

I've found that for GnuCash to even be considered a viable accounting
program for spanish bussineses (even the smallest ones) there are two
simple (I think) requirements:

        1. A template of the account tree with spanish PGC* (General Accounting
Tree, defined by goverment)

        2. Possibility to select accounts by code instead of name when
adding/changing transactions.

* PGC is just a set of (sub)account names and codes predefined by
spanish goverment, along with some good/legal accounting practices and
guidelines. Accountants usually know most used account codes, so they
can enter transactions more quickly.

        My thoughts:

        - How can I set up a template of accounts for spanish PGC? Is there any
possibility that we can ship it with GnuCash?

        - Is it possible to select an account by its code when entering a
transaction? If not, could that possibility be added?

Thanks a lot :)
