Funds donated to the GnuCash project are used to encourage developers to produce better code (in lieu of working on their real job projects). It's a thank-you for the hard work gone into the GnuCash program, and all the man-years of work that has gone into making GnuCash what it is today. Imagine a world without GnuCash -- what other Open Source Software package can match the features and usefulness of GnuCash. Is it as fully-featured as those non-free financial applications? No. Is it perfect? Of course not. But as a free, open-source financial application, GnuCash is the best available. Show your appreciation for all the hard work making your financial life easier.
