BUG in german gnucash 1.5.98: Y/J

Just fought through the dependency hell and finally got 1.5.98 to run.
OK, try it in german:

export LANG=de_DE
gnucash &

Open a bank account with reconciled transactions. They are shown as "y".
However, as soon as you click on one transaction, the "y" becomes an "j".
I guess that shoudn't be ...
