By the time you read this, gnucash.org should be back up. It was down all afternoon today (31 Oct) with disk problems. There is a basic rule of building RAID arrays: don't use disks from the same manufacturer (or at least, not the same model number) when building RAID arrays. Unfortunately, that rule was violated when www.gnucash.org got built :-( When I replaced one disk, the other started failing with identical sympoms (and curiously, at similar block numbers, i.e. at the same physical location on the disk, which presumably indicates some kind of problem in the manufacturing process, or something. Bad crosstalk in the drive electronics for particular disk addresses ??? firmware bug???). Although I've had good luck with other IBM drives, the ones that are failing are IBM Deskstar DPTA-372050 20.5 gig drives (I'm having good luck with some 40 gig drives). --linas -- pub 1024D/01045933 2001-02-01 Linas Vepstas (Labas!) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> PGP Key fingerprint = 8305 2521 6000 0B5E 8984 3F54 64A9 9A82 0104 5933 _______________________________________________ gnucash-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.gnumatic.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-devel
