The release of the latest OS from Apple has prevented my Gnucash 2.6.17 from
opening.

I have downloaded 2.6.18 to see if that solved the problem and although it now
opens, it does not respond to mouse or keyboard on the windows. I can only
shut it using the Force Quit function.

Found this on the web:

The fundamental problem is documented sort-of in this bug:

But I do not have a simple /libz.1.dylib

I have:

/libz.1.1.3.dylib
/libz.1.2.5.dylib
/libz.1.2.8.dylib
/libz.1.2.11.dylib
and
/libz.dylib

So not sure which to try!

Is the latest version compatible with the 64 bit OS X 10.13?

Is there a workaround I can use?

Do you need more information or crash reports?

Thanks.

Geoff
