How are you searching?

Windows Vista and more modern editions include advanced search operators.

Open a file manager window and navigate to the C:\ drive. (or the root of
whatever drive you think the file is on)

In the search bar type:

ext:.gnucash

This will give you all files on that drive with the .gnucash extension.

You can also use the search drop down to further restrict by date and file size.

You can include standard operators such as NOT,AND,-,+ as well as do explicit
and phrase searches using “” to wrap your term(s).

You could use NOT or - to exclude log files if desired, but more than likely,
if you find those, you’ll find your data file since they are usually stored
together.

Regards,
Adrien
