Looks like Croutini installs a Debian container by default, so if you
search debian.org for gnucash and sid (the cutting edge, unstable Debian
release) you find gnucash 3.3 [1], or you can find version 2.6 in the
stable branch [2].  Near the bottom of those pages are links to download
pages, so click the amd64 link, and pick your closest download location.  I
would just go for broke on the first try and use the 3.3 link to see what
happens.  After you get the deb file, go back to your instructions.

Also, if it doesn't work you might try one of the earlier releases.  If you
don't want to go all the way back to 2.6, try Ubuntu packages (closely
derived from Debian) such as this v. 3.2. [3].
