You should be able to enter zero dollar, zero cent transactions, and you
can even put a comment about the transaction so you remember why it shows
as zero. It sounds like a display glitch in the register. If any of the
other figures in the register look funny, you might try double-clicking on
the column header.

--> What version of GnuCash? What operating system? Did you recently
upgrade?
