Hi David: Thank you for the response.

My system reads that I have "the newest version" of gnucash -- 1:2.6.12-1

The system is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

I download QFX files and import them into gnucash afterwards.

I use this routine for several banks and credit cards. Some of them do just fine but a few, as I said in the initial post, do not appear at the ledger after I "import." More than that. If the imported transactions didn't appear in the ledger once and I try to import the corresponding file again, I am getting an empty screen, no messages, nothing and can do nothing at all but to close it.

Thanks

What version of GNuCash are you using and on what platform
(Linux/Windows/MacOS)?

How were you trying to import your data from the bank? Directly using an
on-line connection or by downloading a datafile and then importing that file
into GnuCash?

If the latter what was the format of the data file?

While there is online support for direct download from a bank from within
GnuCash, this is not necessarily available from all banks or in many
countries.

Other options usually available are to download OFX/QFX files, QIF files,
CSV files. Of these the first are generally easiest to import provided the
bank has got the OFX format right. Not all do.
