I was hoping to transition to Gnucash to track finances for the small church we belong to. I started by optimistically trying to import about 3 years worth of transactions from Aplos into GC via a CSV file. That didn't go as smoothly as I hoped. Most of the transactions ended up in the "Imbalance-USD" account/category. It seems I have to go thru and manually fix each transaction. I'm reluctant because I'm not even sure I'm doing it correctly. So I would like to start over, except I have all the accounts set up correctly (I think) so I would like to save those.
I expected I would be able to hold down the shift key, scroll down the transaction list to select a big chunk to delete and then hit the delete key. But this doesn't work. And I couldn't find any other way to delete the mess I made without deleting them all one at a time. So then I noticed an account called "Imbalance-USD" so I thought "I will try just deleting that." But even that didn't work. I selected the account, pressed the delete key, responded to a couple warning windows by pressing the delete button in the messages. The screen flashed a little like it was doing it, but it's still there. I tried multiple times with the same result. I'm very close to giving up on this. I'm can't see spending much more time on it if it doesn't work any better than this. Is there something fundamental I'm doing wrong? The program looks so promising but I just can't get anything to work the way I expect. I would be grateful for any help you can give. Thanks.
