However a Debian package has to build successfully from source on several supported architectures, so the building and packaging issues are interrelated. Lots of folks rely on the Debian package, including me. So my goal has been to learn enough about Debian packaging to present the process on the wiki so more volunteers might be available to help produce each next Debian package.
