Axel, Just to confirm that you're not going crazy, I've seen the same behavior on the date field for a long time. As you describe, the date field width is optimized for display without the drop down triangle; the triangle causes erroneous display as you describe. I seem to fecal that the register does not remember your setting from session to session, but I could be misremembering. My only fix has been to manually adjust the date column width.
