What version and what OS? I just tried to resize and it worked as expected.
Perhaps drag the right-hand header border for the description towards the left and let it go. It will snap into place taking up the remaining space. This will ‘reset’ the Description column. Then try dragging the right-hand header border for the account again. Note, if you are in Double Line mode, you need to drag the border on the second line, not the top one as that will instead expand the Reconcile column which really doesn’t need to be wider than 1 character.
